I grew up surrounded by beautiful antique furniture. As the third-generation in the antiques business, I carry on a family tradition dating back to 1946.  I brings over 30 years of first hand experience to every project, guided by a passion for furniture and a love of interiors.

“Take care of what’s already there. Whether it’s an 18th century Chippendale commode, a gilt mirror, or a contemporary piece, I focus on preserving the original patina, charm, and spirit of each item.”

Though based in Dorset, I work all over the UK, from Cornwall and the Cotswolds to London and Scotland, as well as across Europe.

Discretion, Care, & Expertise

History

My journey began in a home filled with antiques and a family in the trade.  Childhood weekends were spent exploring museums and country houses, and sometimes accompanying my grandfather, Geoffrey Hill, on buying trips outside London.

The family firm, established in 1946, became known internationally for its expertise in fine English, Russian, and Chinese furniture. Its clients included major museums such as the V&A, the Getty, and the Met in New York.

My professional path started in London, on the King’s Road, where I learnt the craft from Jeremy’s restorers, Cyrille and Ken.

A turning point came early on; as they a teenager,  learning to dry strip furniture; I remember my first job, uncovering the original gilding on a William Kent console.  This poignant moment sparked a love for furniture restoration.

My knowledge was further shaped by advice from Philip Barker, an exceptional restorer, whose emphasis on 18th century cabinetry, fine wax finishing and conservation left a lasting impression.

With 30 years of honing, perfecting and still developing conservation skills, I approaches each and every piece with the same sense anticipation and enthusiasm I first felt.
